Jim Piersall

Jim Piersall was a center fielder for the Mets in 1963. He played in 40 games with the team. Piersall had 24 hits and 13 runs scored as a member of the Mets.

During the '63 season, Piersall was purchased by the Mets from the Washington Senators. He got a double and two singles in his first three at bats in the first game of a doubleheader at St. Louis on May 26. In a twinbill opener at the Polo Grounds on June 9, Jim had a two-run double in the Mets' 8-7 victory over the Cardinals. Piersall also had a single, homer (his 100th) and double in a 5-0 Mets win over the Phillies to open a doubleheader at the Polo Grounds on June 23.

Piersall was released by the Mets on July 27, 1963.
