Jim Dwyer

Jim Dwyer was an outfielder for the Mets in 1976. He played in 11 games with the team. Dwyer had two singles and two runs scored in his brief time as a Met.

Dwyer came to the Mets in a trade with the Montreal Expos on July 21, 1976. In his first at bat after the deal, he got a pinch-hit single and scored a run against his former team in a 3-2 Mets loss in 11 innings at Montreal on July 23. Jim scored the Mets’ only run in a 4-1 loss on July 26 at Philadelphia. He also singled in the ninth inning of a 5-4 Mets win over the Expos in the first game of a doubleheader at Shea Stadium on September 28.

Over the rest of the 1970s, Dwyer spent time with the Cardinals, Giants and Red Sox. He played for the Baltimore Orioles from 1981 to 1988. Jim had a .333 batting average in the 1983 post-season en route to the Orioles’ World Championship. He ended his career with the Minnesota Twins in 1990.
