Jesus Alou

Jesus Alou was an outfielder for the Mets in 1975. He played in 62 games with the team. Alou had a .265 batting average with 11 runs batted in as a Met.
Alou played twelve seasons with the Giants, Astros and Athletics before joining the Mets as a free agent. He served mostly as a reserve in his only season in New York. Jesus had three singles and drove in the Mets' only run in a 6-1 loss to the Pirates at Shea Stadium on May 7. He had a game-tying two-run single in an eventual 5-2 Mets victory in 11 innings at Montreal on June 17. Alou singled, doubled and scored a run in the Mets' 10-9 triumph over the Astros on July 20 at Shea. He drove in two runs with a fifth-inning single to put the Mets ahead to stay for a 4-2 win at Pittsburgh on August 1. Jesus also had a pinch-hit RBI single in a 7-5 Mets victory over the Cubs on September 18 at Shea.
Alou was released by the Mets in March of 1976. He played in Mexico before rejoining the Astros in 1978. Jesus ended his career with the Houston team in 1979.
