Jeromy Burnitz was an outfielder for the Mets in the 1990s and 2000s. He played in 350 games with the team in 1993, 1994, 2002 and 2003. Burnitz had 265 hits and 140 runs batted in as a Met.

Burnitz was selected by the Mets out of Oklahoma State University in the first round of the 1990 Major League Baseball Draft. He joined the parent club during the ’93 season. On June 29, Jeromy singled, doubled and homered in the Mets’ 10-9 victory in 12 innings at Florida. He had two singles, a homer and four RBIs in a 6-3 Mets win over the Giants at Shea Stadium on July 3. Burnitz drove in seven runs with a grand slam, single and double in a 12-9 Mets triumph in 13 innings at Montreal on August 5. He hit a three-run homer in a 12-2 Mets win at Cincinnati on August 18. Jeromy also had a two-run homer in the Mets’ 6-5 victory in 10 innings at Pittsburgh on September 22.

In ’94, Burnitz compiled 47 total bases and scored 26 runs. He appeared in 45 games during the strike-shortened season. At Chicago on April 4, Jeromy doubled and scored twice in the Mets’ season-opening 12-8 win over the Cubs. He hit a two-run homer to put the Mets ahead to stay in the team’s 7-4 victory over the Dodgers on May 1 at Shea. Burnitz had two singles and two runs scored in a 10-7 Mets triumph over the Marlins at Shea on August 5. He also drove in three runs in a 6-2 Mets win at Philadelphia on August 10.

Burnitz was traded to the Cleveland Indians in November of ’94. He was a member of the Tribe’s American League Championship team of 1995. Jeromy played for the Brewers between 1996 and 2001. He rejoined the Mets in a trade with the Milwaukee team in January of ’02.

In his return to the orange and blue, Burnitz led the Mets with 154 games played in ’02. He had 19 homers and 54 RBIs for the year. On April 5, Jeromy had a run-scoring single and a three-run homer in the Mets’ 9-3 victory at Atlanta. He doubled and homered in a 2-1 Mets win over the Expos at Shea on April 12. Burnitz hit a three-run homer in a 7-1 Mets triumph at Arizona on May 1. At Houston two days later, he singled twice, homered and scored three runs in the Mets’ 11-3 win over the Astros. Jeromy had an RBI double and a two-run single in a 12-6 Mets victory at Philadelphia on July 2. He had a pair of home runs in the Mets’ 8-2 win at Montreal on September 12. Burnitz also hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning to give the Mets a 3-1 victory over the Cubs on September 17 at Shea.

In ’03, Burnitz tied (with Cliff Floyd) for the Mets’ team lead with 18 home runs. He had a .274 batting average with the team during the season. At Pittsburgh on April 15, Jeromy had two singles and a two-run homer in the Mets’ 3-1 win over the Pirates. He had a grand slam in a 6-5 Mets triumph at Atlanta on May 23. Burnitz singled, doubled and hit a three-run homer in the Mets' 10-4 victory over the Braves on June 1 at Shea. He had a run-scoring single and a two-run homer in a 7-3 Mets win at Anaheim on June 13. Two days later, Jeromy homered twice in the Mets’ 8-0 victory over the Angels. He had a single and a home run in a 6-3 Mets win over the Marlins at Shea on June 25. Burnitz also had a pair of singles and a three-run homer in a 7-2 Mets triumph at Cincinnati on July 4.

On July 14, 2003, Burnitz was traded to the Dodgers. He completed the season with the Los Angeles team. Jeromy played for the Rockies, Cubs and Pirates over the next three years to conclude his career.
