Jeff Innis was a relief pitcher for the Mets from 1987 to 1993. He pitched 360 innings with an earned run average of 3.05 in 288 games. Jeff had 192 strikeouts in his career.
Innis made his major league debut on May 16, 1987. He pitched the final two innings of the Mets' 5-4 loss to the Giants in 10 innings at Shea Stadium. Jeff recorded his first win in the team's 6-5 triumph over the Cubs in 13 innings at Shea on June 4, 1988. For the '88 season, Jeff compiled an ERA of 1.89 in his 12 games.
Over the 1989 and 1990 seasons, Innis pitched 66 innings in 47 games for the Mets. His only win during these two years came on June 24, 1990 in a 6-5 victory over the Phillies. Also in '90, Jeff recorded his first major league save on June 29 against the Reds at Shea.
Innis led all Mets pitchers in games each season from 1991 to 1993. His 76 appearances in 1992 set a new team record. Jeff teamed up with David Cone for a one-hitter on September 14, 1991. Unfortunately, the Mets lost this game to the Cardinals. He attained a career-high 6 wins in '92, the first of which was at St. Louis in the season opener on April 6.
In 1993, Innis had two wins and three saves in his final season with the Mets. He pitched in the minor leagues for a few more years before ending his career.
