Jason Phillips was a catcher and first baseman for the Mets from 2001 to 2004. He batted .262 in 264 games with the team. Phillips had 308 total bases as a Met.

Phillips plated in a total of 17 games for the Mets in 2001 and 2002. In ’01, he got a double for his first major league hit in an 8-6 Mets defeat to the Expos at Shea Stadium on October 5. Jason had two singles and two runs scored in a 7-2 Mets win at Philadelphia on September 6, 2002. Six days later, he hit his first major league home run in an 8-2 Mets victory at Montreal.

In 2003, Phillips hit .298 with 11 home runs. He had 58 runs batted in during the season. At San Francisco on May 18, Jason hit a two-run homer in the Mets’ 5-1 win over the Giants. He singled and had a pair of doubles in a 6-3 Mets triumph over the Phillies at Shea on May 22. Phillips had a single, a run-scoring double and two runs scored in a 7-6 Mets victory over the Expos on July 1 at Shea. He drove in the winning run with a ninth-inning single for a 4-3 Mets victory over the Phillies at Shea on July 13. Jason singled, doubled twice and scored two runs in the Mets’ 2-0 win over the Brewers on July 30 at Shea. He had two singles, a double and three RBIs in a 13-5 Mets triumph over the Cardinals at Shea on August 3. Phillips also had a two-run single in the Mets’ 9-3 win at Florida on September 27.

Jason had 79 hits and 34 runs scored in 2004. He homered seven times and led the team with five sacrifice flies for the year. In the season opener in Atlanta on April 6, Phillips doubled ans scored twice each in the Mets’ 7-2 victory over the Braves. He had two doubled and two runs batted in as the Mets defeated the Rockies, 9-7, at Shea on May 21. Jason drove in two runs with a sacrifice fly and a double in the Mets’ 9-3 win over the Yankees on June 26. He singled twice, doubled and scored two runs in a 10-1 Mets victory at Philadelphia on July 7. Phillips also had two run-scoring singles in the Mets’ 11-9 triumph in 12 innings at San Francisco on August 21.

On March 20, 2005, Phillips was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He had 95 hits in 121 games played with the Dodgers in the ’05 season. Jason appeared in 80 games with the Toronto Blue Jays over the next two years to conclude his major league career.
