From The Met Wiki
Jason Isringhausen was a pitcher for the Mets in the 1990’s. He appeared in 60 games for the team from 1995 to 1999. Isrunghausen recorded 18 wins and 225 strikeouts as a member of the Mets.
In his major league debut on July 17, 1995, Isringhausen struck out six batters in seven innings against the Cubs at Chicago. Although he was not the winning pitcher, the Mets came out with a 7-2 victory in the game. Jason got his first win on July 30 as the Mets defeated the Pirates, 2-1, at Shea Stadium. Isringhausen ended the ’95 season with a won-lost record of 9-2 and a 2.81 earned run average.
Isringhausen pitched 171 and two-thirds innings in 27 games in 1996. He had 114 strikeouts and 6 wins for the season. On May 1, Jason pitched eight shutout innings for a victory in a 6-0 Mets win over the Expos in the second game of a doubleheader at Shea. After losing his next five decisions, he pitched a complete game 3-0 shutout over the Marlins at Shea on June 9. Isringhausen also hit two home runs during the ’96 season at Pittsburgh on June 19 and at Colorado on July 24.
A broken wrist and illness kept Jason sidelined for most of the 1997 season. He pitched his first game of the year on August 27, allowing 5 runs and 11 hits to the Giants in five innings. Amazingly, he came away with the win as the Mets defeated San Francisco, 15-6, at Shea. In his next start, Isringhausen pitched six innings of two-hit ball and got another win as the Mets beat the Blue Jays, 3-0, on September 1 at Shea. Jason struck out 18 batters in 18 and two-thirds innings in his other four games in ’97.
Recovering from elbow surgery, Isringhausen sat out the entire season in 1998. He came back in 1999 by appearing in 13 games for the Mets. Jason recorded his only win of the year on June 8 as the Mets defeated the Blue Jays, 11-3, at Shea. On July 6, he got a save with three shutout innings in the Mets’ 10-0 win over the Expos at Shea.
In a 17-10 Mets loss at Chicago on July 31, Isringhausen was the losing pitcher in his final game with the team. He was traded to the Oakland Athletics with Greg McMichael for Billy Taylor later that day. Jason pitched for the Athletics through 2001 and followed with seven seasons as a reliever with the St. Louis Cardinals. After spending 2009 with the Tampa Bay Rays, Isringhausen pitched for the Cincinnati Reds’ AAA-level team in Louisville in 2010.
In 2011, Isringhausen returned to the Mets. He recorded his 300th career save in the team's 5-4 win in 10 innings at San Diego on August 15.
