Jack Lamabe

Jack Lamabe was a pitcher for the Mets in 1967. He pitched in 16 games with the team. Lamabe had 31 and two-thirds innings pitched and 23 strikeouts as a Met.

Lamabe came to the Mets from the Chicago White Sox in April of '67. He made his Mets debut with one perfect inning in a 7-1 Mets loss at Cincinnati on April 28. Jack pitched scoreless eighth and ninth innings to close out a 5-3 Mets win in the second game of a doubleheader at Atlanta on June 24. He also pitched a perfect top of the ninth in a 1-0 Mets loss to the Phillies at Shea Stadium on June 29.

Lamabe was traded to the Cardinals in exchange for Al Jackson on July 16, 1967. On the same day, he was the losing pitcher in the Mets' 7-5 win over the Redbirds that completed a doubleheader sweep at St. Louis. Jack made three relief appearances for the Cardinals in their '67 World Series triumph over the Red Sox. He concluded his career with the Cubs in 1968.
