The Mets made a minor trade with the Brewers during the 1976 season. Infielder Jack Heidemann was dealt to Milwaukee for pitcher Tom Deidel. As a utility player, Heidemann batted .204 in 66 games with the Mets over the previous one and one-half seasons. Deidel was in his fifth season in the Brewers' minor league system.
The deal had no effect for either team. Deidel won 3 games and had a 4.71 earned run average for the Mets' AA-level team in Jackson, Mississippi to conclude his career in '76. He never played in the major leagues. Heidemann had a .218 batting average in 74 games with the Brewers before finishing his career in the minors.
