Fisher pitched four seasons with the Baltimore Orioles and one with the San Francisco Giants before coming to New York in '64. Jack's first game as a Met came on April 17 against the Pirates in the first game ever at Shea Stadium. He got a no-decision in the Mets' 4-3 loss. At Shea on June 28, he pitched a complete game in the Mets' 5-2 win over the Braves in the first game of a doubleheader. On July 23, Fisher pitched all 10 innings of the Mets' 3-2 win over the Phillies at Shea. He recorded only one more victory the rest of the year while losing his other 13 decisions. Still, Jack's 8 wins and 3.95 ERA were team bests in '65.
Jack led the Mets in several pitching categories in 1966. His 11 wins, 127 strikeouts and 230 innings pitched were team highs as were his 10 complete games. Fisher pitched a three-hit complete game for the win in the Mets' 6-2 victory over the Dodgers at Shea on June 3. In the Mets' 11-inning win over the Reds at Shea on June 12, he struck out 10 batters. Jack had a complete game win in the Mets' 8-1 triumph at Philadelphia in the second game of a doubleheader on July 4. On July 20, he pitched the full 10 innings of the Mets' 3-2 win at San Francisco. Fisher also recorded two shutouts during the '66 season, both of which came against the Astros on September 20 (3-0 at Houston) and September 30 (1-0 at Shea.)
The '67 season was Fisher's last one with the Mets. He compiled a record of 9 wins and 18 losses with a 4.70 ERA and 117 strikeouts. On May 9, Jack pitched all 11 innings of the Mets 3-2 win over the Reds at Shea. He also pitched a two-hit shutout on June 21 at Philadelphia. Fisher recorded his last win as a Met against the first place Cardinals at St. Louis on August 28.
Fisher was traded to the Chicago White Sox in a six-player deal the brought Tommie Agee and Al Weis to the Mets on December 15, 1967. Jack pitched the 1968 season with the Sox and concluded his career with a season in Cincinnati in 1969.
