Jack DiLauro

Jack DiLauro was a lefthanded pitcher for the Mets in their World Championship season of 1969. He pitched 63 and two-thirds innings, posting an earned run average of 2.40 with 27 strikeouts. In 23 games, DiLauro had a won-lost record of 1-4.
Jack made his major league debut on May 15. He pitched two innings of scoreless relief in the Mets' 6-5 loss to the Braves. DiLauro also threw five and two-thirds shutout innings in two games at Houston on May 23 and May 25.
In his first major league start, Jack allowed only two hits in nine shutout innings on June 4 against the Dodgers at Shea Stadium. The game went into extra innings and DiLauro was left with a no-decision. The Mets eventually won the 15th.
In the second game of a doubleheader on July 20, DiLauro got credit for his first major league win at Montreal. The Mets defeated the Expos, 4-3, in 10 innings for a split of the doubleheader.
On September 1, DiLauro pitched the last two innings of the Mets' 10-6 loss at Los Angeles. Jack struck out two Dodger batters in the game, one of which was Steve Garvey in his first major league at bat.
Following the championship, DiLauro was selected by the Houston Astros in the Rule V draft. Jack had a 1-3 record with 3 saves for Houston in 1970, his last year in the major leagues.
