Ike Hampton

Ike Hampton was a catcher for the Mets in 1974. He appeared in four games with the team. Hampton was hitless in four official at bats as a Met.
Hampton made his major league debut on September 12, 1974. As a pinch-hitter, he flied out in the ninth inning to end the Mets' 12-5 loss to the Cardinals at Shea Stadium. Ike also got his first major league run batted in with a sacrifice fly in an 11-5 Mets defeat to the Pirates at Shea on September 26.
In March of 1975, Hampton was traded to the California Angels for pitcher Ken Sanders. He played for the Angels from 1975 to 1979. Ike concluded his career in the minor leagues in 1980.
