Herb Moford was a pitcher for the Mets in 1962. He made seven relief appearances for the team. Moford had five strikeouts in 15 innings pitched as a Met.
Moford pitched a scoreless seventh inning in the Mets’ first game ever on April 11, 1962. He was tagged with the loss in a 5-2 Mets defeat to the Colt .45s on April 17 at the Polo Grounds. Herb also pitched two scoreless innings on April 29 as the Mets lost to the Phillies, 10-2, in the second game of a doubleheader at the Polo Grounds This was his final appearance in a major league game.
Moford concluded his career with the Orioles’ AAA-level team in Rochester in 1963.
