Harry Chiti

Harry Chiti was a catcher for the Mets in 1962. He played in 15 games with the team. Chiti had eight hits and two runs scored as a Met.

Chiti came to the Mets from the Cleveland Indians during the ’62 season. He singled twice and scored a run in a 6-5 Mets win over the Cubs in 11 innings at the Polo Grounds on May 16. In the first game of a doubleheader at Milwaukee on May 20, Harry hit a double in the Mets’ 7-6 victory over the Braves. He also singled and scored in a 7-6 Mets loss at San Francisco on May 27.

On June 15, 1962, Chiti returned to the Indians. He spent the rest of the season with the Tribe’s AAA-level team in Jacksonville. Harry played two more years in the minor leagues to conclude his career.
