Hank Webb

Hank Webb was a pitcher for the Mets from 1972 to 1976. He pitched 161 innings in 48 games with the team. Webb recorded 7 wins and 69 strikeouts as a Met.
Webb made 11 appearances for the Mets in the 1972, 1973 and 1974 seasons. In his first major league start on September 8 at Shea Stadium, he struck out six batters in seven innings and got a no-decision as the Mets lost to the Cardinals in 13 innings, 9-5, in the second game of a doubleheader. Hank's first decision as a major leaguer was a loss in a 4-3 Mets defeat to the Cards in 25 innings at Shea on September 11, 1974.
In 1975, Webb pitched in 29 games for the Mets, 15 of which he started. He had three complete games during the year. On June 8, Hank got his first major league win as the Mets defeated the Braves, 7-6, in 14 innings at Shea. At Atlanta on July 7, he pitched a six-hitter for a 3-1 Mets win over the Braves. Webb had a complete game and hit three singles against the Giants on August 15 at Shea for a 9-4 Mets victory in a doubleheader nightcap. He recorded his first shutout with a five-hitter in a 4-0 Mets triumph at San Diego on August 25. Hank also got the win in a 6-2 Mets victory at St. Louis on September 13. In this game, he had three singles, two runs scored and two RBIs to help his own cause.
Webb made eight relief appearances for the Mets in 1976. He pitched 16 innings and had 7 strikeouts for the season. On February 7, 1977, Hank was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He pitched in five games for the Dodgers in '77 to end his major league career.
