Guillermo Mota was a pitcher for the Mets in 2006 and 2007. He made 77 relief appearances in regular and post-season play for the team. Mota recorded five regular season wins and a post-season victory as a Met.

In ’06, Mota came to the Mets in a trade with the Indians on August 20. He had a 3-0 won-lost record and a 1.00 earned run average over the rest of the regular season. At Houston on September 1, Guillermo pitched a scoreless seventh inning to get the win in an 8-7 Mets victory over the Astros. He had two strikeouts in a scoreless seventh for the win in a 6-4 Mets triumph at Florida on September 12. At Washington on October 1, Mota pitched a perfect eighth inning and got credit for the win in the Mets’ 6-2 victory over the Nationals in the regular season finale. He was also the winning pitcher in a 6-5 Mets triumph over the Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Division Series on October 4 at Shea Stadium.

Mota had 59 and one-third innings pitched in ’07. He struck out 47 batters for the year. At Shea on June 24, Guillermo pitched a scoreless eighth inning in the Mets’ 10-2 triumph over the Athletics. He hurled scoreless 10th and 11th innings in a 5-3 Mets win in 17 innings at Houston on July 7. Mota had a scoreless inning to get the win in a 6-2 Mets victory at Chicago on August 3. He also recorded the win in the Mets’ 4-3 triumph over the Braves on September 12 at Shea.

On November 20, 2007, Mota was traded to the Brewers. He spent the 2008 season with the Milwaukee team and pitched for the Dodgers in 2009. Guillermo also appeared in 56 games for the World Champion Giants in the 2010 season.
