Greg Harris was a pitcher for the Mets in 1981. He made 14 starts in 16 game appearances and recorded 54 strikeouts. Harris had three wins and one save as a Met.
In '81, Harris made his major league debut with six innings pitched at San Francisco on May 20. Although he wasn't involved in the decision, the Mets came out with a 4-3 victory in 10 innings to end a nine-game losing streak. At Shea Stadium on May 25, Greg got his first major league win as the Mets defeated the Phillies, 13-3. At Philadelphia on June 3, he was the winning pitcher in a 6-2 Mets victory over the Phils. Harris earned his first career save in the Mets' 7-5 win in 13 innings at Chicago on August 10. Against the Braves at Shea on September 4, he recorded a win and hit his first career double in a 4-1 Mets triumph.
On February 10, 1982, Harris was traded with Alex Trevino and Jim Kern to the Cincinnati Reds for George Foster. He continued to pitch in the major leagues until 1995. Greg finished his 15-year career with 703 games and 1141 strikeouts.
