Greg Goossen was a catcher and first baseman for the Mets from 1965 to 1968. He played in 99 games with the team. Goossen had 48 hits for 64 total bases as a Met.

Goossen was claimed by the Mets on waivers from the Dodgers prior to the '65 season. In his major league debut on September 3, Greg got two singles in a 6-3 Mets win at St. Louis. Goossen singled twice as the Mets lost, 3-1, at Milwaukee in his next game on September 6. He also had a single and his first major league home run in a 4-1 Mets victory in the second game of a doubleheader at Philadelphia on September 25.

In 1966, Goossen had 32 at bats with the Mets after spending the season at AAA-level Jacksonville. He hit a three-run homer in a 6-5 Mets loss in a doubleheader nightcap at Houston on September 18. Greg also had a two-run single in an 8-4 Mets victory at Cincinnati on September 25.

Goossen appeared in 37 games for the Mets in 1967. He had 12 total bases during the year. Greg had a run-scoring single in a 5-1 Mets win over the Braves at Shea Stadium on August 9.

In 1968, Goossen had seven doubles and six runs batted in. He played first base in 30 games during the season. Greg had a single, a double and an RBI in the Mets' 3-1 win over the Astros at Shea on April 23. He singled, doubled twice and drove in a run in a 10-0 Mets win over the Cubs in the second game of a doubleheader at Wrigley Field on May 12. Goossen hit a double and scored a run in a 2-1 Mets victory over the Reds on May 16 at Shea. He also had an RBI double and a run scored in the Mets' 5-3 win at Chicago on June 6.

In 1969, Goossen played for the Seattle Pilots in their only season of existence. He split the 1970 season between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Washington Senators. Greg completed his career in the minor leagues in 1971.
