Gary Thurman

Gary Thurman was an outfielder for the Mets in 1997. He played in 11 games with the team. Thurman had one hit in six at bats as a Met.
In '97, Thurman came to the Mets after eight years in the American League. He got a pinch-hit single in the Mets' 12-11 loss at Colorado on May 6. This was Gary's only hit with the Mets and last as a major leaguer. He was released by the Mets on June 2 and completed the season with the Expos' AAA-level team in Ottawa.
Thurman played in 58 games with the Angels' AAA-level team in Vancouver in 1998. He concluded the year and his career as a player with 29 games for the Newark Bears of the independent Atlantic League. Gary later became a manager in the Mariners' minor league system.
