Gary Bennett

Gary Bennett was a player for the Mets in 2001. He appeared in one game with the team. Bennett had a single in his only at bat as a Met.

A catcher, Bennett came to the Mets from the Phillies in his sixth major league season. He got a pinch-hit single in a 4-3 Mets loss at Florida on July 24, 2001. Gary also played in 20 games for the Mets' AAA-level team in Norfolk in '01.

On August 23, 2001, Bennett was traded to the Colorado Rockies. He played for six major league teams over the next seven years to conclude his career.
