Frank Thomas played for the Mets from 1962 to 1964. Primarily an outfielder, he also spent time at first and third base. Frank hit .262 with 52 home runs and 173 runs batted in with the Mets.

Thomas played ten years in the National League before joining the Mets for their inaugural season. Frank was the Mets' leader in many categories in '62. His totals of 34 homers, 94 RBIs, and 571 at bats were team highs. Thomas also led all Mets players with 152 hits, 23 doubles, 69 runs scored and 156 games played.

Five times during the '62 season, Frank hit two home runs in a game. On April 19 and September 20, he homered twice against the Cardinals and Colt .45s, respectively. Thomas also had three consecutive 2-homer games on August 1 (vs. Phillies), August 2 (vs. Phillies) and August 3 (vs. Reds). On August 4, he homered in the bottom of the 14th inning to give the Mets a 3-2 win over the Reds in the second game of a doubleheader at the Polo Grounds.

In 1963, Frank hit .260 with 15 home runs and a team-leading total of 60 RBIs. He drove in all three runs for the Mets in the team's 3-2 win at Chicago on April 25. He hit a two-run homer in the first inning of a 3-1 win over the Phillies on May 7. At the Polo Grounds on June 26, Thomas had a homer and three singles in the Mets' 14-inning win over the Cubs. He also homered in the Mets' 5-1 victory at Los Angeles on July 30.

Thomas batted .254 in 60 games with the Mets in 1964. He drove in the winning run with a single in the Mets' 3-0 victory at Cincinnati on May 2. At Shea Stadium on July 9, Frank homered with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 4-3 Mets' win over the Cardinals. This home run was Thomas's last as a member of the Mets. He was traded to the Phillies on August 7 for Gary Kroll and Wayne Graham. Thomas played two more seasons in the National League before his retirement in 1966.
