Francisco Estrada was a catcher for the Mets in 1971. He played in one game for the team on September 14 at Shea Stadium. In his lone major league appearance, Estrada got a single in his first at-bat and grounded out to end the game as the Mets lost to the Expos, 12-1, in the opener of a doubleheader.

Following the '71 season, Estrada was traded with Nolan Ryan, Don Rose and Leroy Stanton to the California Angels for Jim Fregosi. Francisco played two more seasons in the minor leagues and returned to his native Mexico, where he continued his career in 1974. Estrada played a total of 30 seasons in his homeland and, along with his years as a manager, was part of Mexican championship teams in four different decades. Francisco was elected to the Salon de la Fama del Beisbol Profesional de Mexico (Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame) in 2000.
