Fernando Vina was an infielder and outfielder for the Mets in 1994. He played in 79 games with the team. Vina had 31 hits as a Met.

In '94, Vina led the National League by getting hit by a pitch 12 times. He had three singles and a run scored in the Mets' home-opening 9-5 defeat to the Cubs on April 11. At Shea Stadium on April 27, Fernando drove in the game-winning run with a single in the 15th inning for a 3-2 Mets victory over the Padres. He had two singles and a run batted in as the Mets beat the Braves, 11-4, on May 14 at Shea. Vina singled twice, stole a base and scored a run in a 9-8 Mets loss at Philadelphia on May 21. He hit a single that drove in the Mets' final run of a 10-7 win at San Diego on July 1. Fernando also scored the winning run in the ninth inning in the Mets' 3-2 triumph over the Braves on August 3 at Shea.

Following the '94 season, Vina was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers. He played five seasons with the Brewers and four more years with the St. Louis Cardinals. Fernando concluded his career with the Detroit Tigers in 2004.
