After six seasons with the Milwaukee Braves, Felix led the Mets with a .275 batting average and 7 sacrifice flies in '62. Mantilla also had two singles, a double, a triple and four RBIs in a game at Los Angeles on May 25.

At the Polo Grounds on July 6, Mantilla had four singles in the Mets' 10-3 win over the Cardinals. Mantilla was traded to the Boston Red Sox for Tracy Stallard, Pumpsie Green and Al Moran on December 11, 1962. He played three seasons for the Sox and finished his career with the Houston Astros in 1966.
