Esix Snead

Esix Snead was an outfielder for the Mets in 2002 and 2004. He played in 18 games with the team. Snead had a .308 batting average as a Met.

Snead spent the ’02 season at AA-level Binghamton before joining the Mets in September. He appeared mostly as a pinch-runner over the rest of the year. At Shea Stadium on September 21, Esix got hit first major league hit with a single in the 10th inning. In the 11th, he hit a three-run homer to give the Mets a 6-3 victory over the Expos. Snead also had two singles, a stolen base and a run scored in his only major league start as the Mets lost to the Braves, 7-4, in the second game of a doubleheader at Shea on September 27.

After playing at AAA-level Norfolk in 2003, Snead appeared in one game for the Mets in 2004. As a pinch-runner on May 21, he scored on Jason Phillips’ two-run double in the Mets’ 9-7 win over the Rockies at Shea. Esix finished the rest of the ’04 season at Norfolk. He also played in the minor league systems of the Braves and Orioles before the end of his career in 2006.
