The Mets and Royals made a trade of outfielders before the start of the 2001 season. Endy Chavez was sent to the Kansas City team in exchange for Mike Curry. In 2000, Chavez played for the Mets' A-level team at St. Lucie, Florida while Curry was with the Royals' AA-level team at Wichita, Kansas.
Curry spent two seasons in the Mets' minor league system. He played in 176 games at AA-Binghamton and AAA-Norfolk. Mike never reached the major league level.
Chavez batted .208 in 29 games for the Royals in 2001. He was put on waivers after the season.
