Eddie Yost was a Mets coaching staff member. He served as the team's third base coach from 1968 to 1975. Yost coached for the Mets during Gil Hodges' and Yogi Berra's managerial tenures.

Yost had an 18-year career as a player. He spent 14 seasons with the Washington Senators and two each with the Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels. Eddie began a five-year run as a coach with the Senators in 1963. He also managed the Washington team for one game in '63.

In 1968, Yost joined the Mets' staff with Joe Pignatano and Rube Walker, both of whom were fellow coaches in Washington. The trio had served under Gil Hodges in the nation's capital and continued to do so in New York. Eddie and the rest of the relocated brain trust led the team to a World Championship in 1969 and a National League pennant in 1973.

Following his time with the Mets, Yost became a staff member with the Boston Red Sox in 1977. Just like in New York, he was the third base coach for eight seasons with the Boston team. Eddie served under Don Zimmer and Ralph Houk with the Sox. He completed 21 seasons as a major league coach in 1984.
