Eddie Murray was a first baseman for the Mets in 1992 and 1993. He hit .274 with 43 home runs and 193 runs batted in during his two seasons with the team. Murray had 518 total bases as a Met.

Murray came to the Mets after 15 high-quality seasons with the Orioles and Dodgers. He led the Mets in many categories, including hits (144), runs (64) and games played (156) for the '92 season. Eddie had three singles, a homer and three RBIs in an 8-3 Mets win at San Diego on May 21. He hit a grand slam for all the Mets' runs for a 4-3 triumph over the Giants at Shea Stadium on June 2. Murray singled twice, doubled twice and drove in two runs in the Mets' 8-6 victory on July 28 at Philadelphia. He had a grand slam in a 5-2 Mets win at Cincinnati on September 4. Eddie also hit a three-run homer in the Mets' 7-5 victory over the Expos on September 19 at Shea.

In 1993, Murray had Mets-leading totals of 154 games played, 28 doubles and 100 RBIs. He also had a team-high .285 batting average for the year. At Los Angeles on July 22, Eddie had a three-run homer and a two-run homer to lead the Mets to a 10-5 victory over the Dodgers. He hit a double to drive in the winning run in the ninth inning for a 5-4 Mets triumph over the Marlins on July 28 at Shea. Murray singled, doubled, homered and had three RBIs in a 10-3 Mets win at St. Louis on August 1. He had a two-run homer and a run-scoring single in the Mets' 5-0 victory over the Cubs on September 12 at Shea. Eddie drove in two runs in each of the Mets' last four games of the season, starting with a two-run homer that served as a game-winner for a 3-2 triumph over the Cardinals at Shea on September 30.

Murray played for the Cleveland Indians from 1994 to 1996. He was a member of the Indians' American League championship team in 1995. After finishing the '96 season back in Baltimore, Eddie played for the Angels and Dodgers to end his career in 1997.

In 2003, Murray was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
