Ed Bressoud was an infielder for the Mets in 1966. He played in 133 games and had a team-leading 5 triples for the season. Bressoud was mainly a shortstop, but also spent time at the other three infield positions for the Mets.

Bressoud began his career with the New York Giants in 1956. Ed remained with the Giants through the team's first four seasons in San Francisco before playing four years with the Boston Red Sox. The Mets acquired Bressoud from Boston for Joe Christopher on November 30, 1965.

In his only season as a Met, Bressoud had 10 homers and 49 runs batted in while drawing a team high 47 walks. He had two singles and a home run in the Mets' 8-0 win at St. Louis on May 4. Ed homered twice and drove in four runs on June 10 in a 5-0 Mets victory over the Reds at Shea Stadium. Bressoud hit three-run homers on June 15 (at Atlanta) and on June 17 (at Cincinnati) in games that resulted in one-run wins for the Mets. He singled to drive in the Mets' only runs in a 2-1 win over the Giants at Shea on September 1. Ed also doubled and scored in the ninth inning for a 1-0 Mets victory over the Astros on September 30 at Shea.

Just prior to the 1967 season, Bressoud was dealt to the St. Louis Cardinals with Danny Napoleon for Jerry Buchek, Art Mahaffey and Tony Martinez. Ed played in 52 games for the Cards in '67 and concluded his career with two appearances against his former Boston team in the World Series.
