Duaner Sanchez was a pitcher for the Mets in 2006 and 2008. He appeared in 115 games with the team. Sanchez had a 10-2 won-lost record with 88 strikeouts as a Met.

In ’06, Sanchez came to the Mets in a trade with the Dodgers. He had a 2.60 earned run average during the team’s division-winning season. At San Diego on April 20, Duaner was the winning pitcher in the Mets’ 7-2 victory over the Padres. He pitched a perfect ninth inning to get the win in an 8-7 Mets triumph over the Diamondbacks on May 29 at Shea Stadium. Two days later, Sanchez pitched three scoreless innings for the win in a 1-0 Mets victory over the D’Backs in 13 innings at Shea. He had a scoreless 11th inning to pick up the win in the Mets’ 3-2 triumph over the Giants at Shea on June 3. Duaner also pitched a scoreless eighth inning and got the win in a 7-6 Mets victory over the Pirates on July 4 at Shea.

In August of ’06, Sanchez was involved in an automobile accident. He suffered a fractured right shoulder that kept him sidelined for the rest of the season. The injury also prevented Duaner from pitching in 2007.

Sanchez came back to the Mets in ’08. He compiled 58 and one-third innings pitched for the year. At Shea on May 28, Duaner pitched two innings of relief for the win in the Mets’ 7-6 victory over the Marlins in 12 innings. He pitched a perfect eighth inning for the win in a 3-2 Mets triumph over the Dodgers on May 31 at Shea. Sanchez hurled a perfect ninth inning and got the win in the Mets’ 5-4 victory in 10 innings at Anaheim on June 18. He pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the win in a 10-8 Mets triumph at Cincinnati on July 17. Duaner also had two scoreless innings pitched and got the win in the Mets’ 7-5 victory in 10 innings at Cincinnati on July 20.

In 2009, Sanchez appeared in 12 games with the Padres after his release by the Mets. He pitched for the Sussex Skyhawks (independent Canadian-American Association) and the Diablos Rojos del Mexico (Mexican League) in 2010. Duaner joined the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League in 2011.
