Doug Sisk was a relief pitcher for the Mets from 1982 to 1987. He appeared in 263 games and had a 3.10 earned run average during his time with the team. Sisk recorded 17 wins and 33 saves as a Met.

Sisk began his major league career with the Mets in '82. In eight games pitched, he allowed only one run (a game-winning homer by the Expos' Andre Dawson on September 15) and struck out four batters. At Chicago on September 22, Doug got his first save to preserve Scott Holman's first major league win in the Mets' 5-2 victory over the Cubs.

In 1983, Sisk set a record for Mets pitchers with 67 game appearances. He had a 5-4 won-lost record with 11 saves for the season. Doug recorded his first major league win with three innings of shutout relief in the Mets' 2-0 Opening Day triumph over the Phillies at Shea Stadium on April 5. At Shea on May 8, he pitched two scoreless innings for a save in the Mets' 10-5 win over the Reds. Sisk pitched five innings to earn the save in a 7-5 Mets win over the Cardinals at Shea on June 23. He also recorded saves in consecutive appearances at Atlanta on July 20 and at Cincinnati on July 22.

Sisk had a 2.09 ERA in 1984. He pitched 77 and two-thirds innings and saved 15 games during the year. On April 4, Doug pitched three innings to get the save in a 2-0 Mets win at Cincinnati. At Philadelphia on April 20, he recorded his only win of the season in the Mets' 3-1 triumph in 10 innings over the Phillies. Sisk recorded a save in the Mets' 10-7 victory over the Phillies on June 21 at Shea that put the team into first place. He also pitched four innings of one-hit ball for the save in a 4-3 Mets win at Los Angeles on May 12.

The 1985 season was a rough one for Sisk. Overcoming a shoulder injury, he had only two saves and a 5.30 ERA on the season. Still, he had his moments during the year. Doug earned the save with two scoreless innings in a 1-0 Mets win over the Reds at Shea on April 12. On June 2, he pitched four shutout innings for his only other save of the year in the Mets' 7-3 win at San Diego. Sisk struck out three batters in three shutout innings to notch the win in a 6-3 Mets victory over the Expos on June 21 at Shea. On September 1 and September 8, he was the winning pitcher in 4-3 Mets triumphs at San Francisco and at Los Angeles, respectively.

Doug pitched in 41 games for the Mets in 1986. He had four wins and 31 strikeouts while posting a 3.06 ERA during the team's World Championship season. At St. Louis on July 2, Sisk pitched two and two-thirds innings of shutout ball for the win in the Mets' 4-3 victory. He was the winning pitcher in a 6-5 Mets triumph in 11 innings at San Diego on August 27. Doug recorded his only save of the year in the Mets' 4-2 win at Pittsburgh on September 27.

In 1987, Sisk had three wins and three saves in 55 game appearances. He pitched 78 innings and struck out a career-high 37 batters. Doug recorded a save with two shutout innings in a 6-3 Mets win over the Braves at Shea on April 10. At Pittsburgh on June 14, he pitched four and two-thirds shutout innings to get the win as the Mets beat the Pirates, 7-3. Sisk also got a save with three scoreless innings in a 5-2 Mets win over the Phillies at Shea on September 8.

On December 7, 1987, Sisk was traded to the Baltimore Orioles for Blaine Beatty and Greg Talamantez. Doug pitched in 52 games for the Orioles in 1988 and concluded his career with 17 appearances for the Atlanta Braves in 1990 and 1991.
