Doug Saunders

Doug Saunders was an infielder for the Mets in 1993. He played in 28 games with the team. Saunders had 16 total bases and eight runs scored as a Met.
In ’93, Saunders joined the Mets from their AAA-level team in Norfolk. In his major league debut on June 13, he had two singles in a 5-3 Mets loss to the Phillies at Shea Stadium. Doug singled twice and scored three times the following day in the Mets’ 7-4 win at Atlanta. He had a pair of singles and two runs scored in an 8-3 Mets victory over the Expos at Shea on June 21. Saunders also had a single in the Mets’ season-closing 9-2 win at Florida on October 3.
Saunders played in 96 games for the Mets’ AA-level team in Binghamton in 1994. He played three more seasons in the Mariners and Athletics minor league systems to close out his career.
