Don Schulze

Don Schulze was a pitcher for the Mets in 1987. He appeared in five games with the team. Schulze recorded one win and five strikeouts as a Met.

Schulze came to the Mets from the Cleveland Indians in May of ’87. He had a won-lost record of 11-1 at AAA-level Tidewater (Norfolk, Virginia) during the year. In his first game as a Met on July 20, Don pitched six and one-third innings and got the win in a 9-2 victory over the Braves at Shea Stadium. He also had five innings pitched in getting a no-decision in the Mets’ 3-2 win over the Phillies at Shea on August 3.

In 1988, Schulze spent the season with the Tigers’ AAA-level team in Toledo. He split the 1989 season between the Yankees and Padres. Don pitched for Japan’s Orix Blue Wave from 1990 to 1992. He ended his career with the Orioles’ AAA-level team in Rochester in 1993.
