Dennis Bennett

Dennis Bennett was a pitcher for the Mets in 1967. He made six starts and two relief appearances with the team. Bennett recorded one win and 14 strikeouts as a Met.

Bennett joined the Mets in a trade with the Boston Red Sox on June 24, 1967. Three days later, he was the starting pitcher (but got a no-decision) in a 5-2 Mets win over the Pirates at Shea Stadium. Dennis pitched seven innings and got the win in a 2-1 Mets triumph in the first game of a doubleheader at St. Louis on July 16. He also struck out five batters over eight innings in a 3-0 Mets defeat to the Dodgers on July 21 at Shea.

In 1968, Bennett pitched in two games for the Mets' AAA-level team in Jacksonville. He also appeared in 16 games with the California Angels during the year. Dennis continued to pitch in the Angels' and Padres' minor league systems until 1973.
