Dave Schneck played in 143 games for the New York Mets from 1972 to 1974. He played all three outfield positions, making 272 putouts. His batting average was .199 with 8 home runs and 35 runs batted in during his three seasons. All eight of Dave's home runs were hit in Mets' road games.

Schneck was drafted by the Mets out of Whitehall (PA) High School in 1967 and reached the majors five years later. In his debut, Dave hit a two-run homer that gave the Mets a 3-2 win over the Padres at San Diego on July 14, 1972. Schneck hit his second homer two days later, also in San Diego.

Dave played in 13 games for the 1973 pennant-winning club, but was not on the post-season roster. He appeared in 94 games in 1974, batting .205 with 11 doubles and 5 home runs.

Before the '74 season, Schneck was part of a Mets trio that rotated uniform numbers. He switched from #23 to #16, while Felix Millan went from #16 to #17 and Ted Martinez exchanged his #17 for #23.

In 1974, Dave had two 2-homer games. His first was on April 17 against the Expos' Steve Rogers in Montreal, driving in all the Mets' runs in a 7-4 loss. The other was at the expense of the Giants' Tom Bradley in the first game of a doubleheader at San Francisco on April 28. The homers off Bradley were for two runs each and led to a 6-0 Mets' win.

Dave was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in a six-player deal on December 3, 1974. However, he was never a part of the Phils' roster and didn't play in the major leagues again.
