Dave Mlicki was a pitcher for the Mets from 1995 to 1998. He appeared in 122 games with the team. Mlicki recorded 24 wins and 402 strikeouts as a Met.

Mlicki joined the Mets in a trade with the Cleveland Indians on November 18, 1994. In ’95, he pitched 160 and two-thirds innings and chalked up nine wins. At Shea Stadium on April 29, Dave made his Mets debut by striking out two batters in a perfect 11th inning to get the win in a 5-4 victory over the Cardinals. He pitched seven innings and got the win in the Mets’ 8-1 triumph at Houston on May 18. Mlicki was the winning pitcher in a 9-6 Mets victory at San Francisco on June 8. At Shea on August 7, he struck out ten batters and got the win in a 5-2 Mets victory that completed a doubleheader sweep over the Marlins. Dave also had seven innings pitched for a win in the Mets’ 4-2 victory over the Astros on September 14 at Shea.

In 1996, Dave was used primarily as a reliever. He pitched in a total of 51 games during the year. At Pittsburgh on April 27, Mlicki pitched a perfect eighth inning and recorded the win in the Mets’ 7-4 triumph over the Pirates. He hurled a scoreless ninth to chalk up the win in the Mets’ 7-6 victory in 10 innings at Pittsburgh on June 17. Dave pitched three scoreless innings to record the only save of his career in the Mets’ 9-4 win over the Reds on June 21 at Shea. Five days later, he fanned two batters in a perfect eighth inning and got the win in a 9-5 Mets triumph over the Rockies at Shea. Mlicki had three strikeouts in two scoreless innings and recorded the win in a 3-2 Mets victory over the Phillies at Shea on July 17. He also pitched one and two-thirds scoreless innings for the win in the Mets’ 6-1 triumph over the Marlins on September 9 at Shea.

Mlicki returned to the Mets’ starting rotation in 1997. He pitched in 32 games (all starts) and had eight wins for the season. At Shea on May 30, Dave was the winning pitcher in the Mets’ 7-3 victory over the Phillies at Shea. He pitched a complete game shutout in a 6-0 Mets win over the Yankees in the Bronx on June 16. Mlicki hurled eight innings for the win in the Mets’ 3-2 triumph over the Pirates on June 21 at Shea. He had seven innings pitched, two hits and a pair of runs scored for the win in a 10-1 Mets victory over the Reds at Shea on July 20. Dave also pitched eight and two-thirds innings of scoreless ball with seven strikeouts in getting the win in the Mets’ 1-0 triumph over the Expos on September 14 at Shea.

In the 1998 season, Mlicki made 10 starts for the Mets. He had 39 strikeouts in 57 innings pitched with the team during the year. At Shea on May 5, Dave had a complete game win in the Mets’ 9-1 victory over the Diamondbacks. He was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 4.

Mlicki appeared in 20 games with the Dodgers over the rest of the ’98 season. He pitched for the Tigers from 1999 to 2001. Dave concluded his career with the Astros in 2002.
