Dave Marshall was an outfielder for the Mets from 1970 to 1972. He had 136 hits in 264 games played with the team. Marshall hit 13 home runs and had 61 RBIs as a Met.

Marshall was acquired by the Mets from the Giants on December 12, 1969. He had 76 total bases during the 1970 season. At San Francisco on April 28, Dave hit a grand slam in the first inning against his former Giants team to lead the Mets to a 5-2 victory. He had three singles and four RBIs in the Mets’ 14-5 win over the Giants at Shea Stadium on May 9. Marshall doubled three times in an 8-4 Mets triumph over the Expos on May 12 at Shea. He got three singles and scored twice in the Mets’ 13-3 win over the Phillies at Shea on June 19. Dave had a pinch-hit three-run homer to put the Mets ahead to stay for a 6-4 victory over the Dodgers on July 25 at Shea. He also drove in three runs with two doubles in a 4-0 Mets win over the Cubs at Shea on August 4.

In 1971, Marshall played in 100 games for the Mets. He had 51 hits and 21 RBIs for the year. Dave had a single, a double and three runs scored in the Mets’ 12-2 win at St. Louis on April 26 to begin a six-game hitting streak. At Shea on May 11, he hit a grand slam in an 8-1 Mets victory over the Astros. Marshall had a two-run homer in the Mets’ 9-5 triumph at Pittsburgh on May 15. He hit a game-tying two-run homer in the ninth inning before the Mets lost to the Giants, 3-2, in the 10th on June 11 at Shea. Dave singled twice, doubled and drove in a run in a 4-0 Mets win over the Cubs at Shea on July 30.

Marshall batted .250 in 72 games in 1972. He hit five doubles and four home runs during the season. Dave hit a home run in the Mets’ 5-4 victory at Houston on June 21. He had an RBI single and a solo home run for all the scoring in a 2-0 Mets win on July 1 at Montreal. Marshall singled three times in the Mets’ 1-0 win in 10 innings in the first game of a doubleheader at Pittsburgh on July 27. He had a run-scoring double and two runs scored in the Mets’ 13-6 victory at Atlanta on August 27. Dave also had a homer and two singles in a 4-2 Mets loss at Cincinnati on August 30.

On November 30, 1972, Marshall was traded to the Padres for pitcher Al Severinsen. He had a .286 batting average in 39 games for the San Diego team in 1973.
