Dave Hudgens

Dave Hudgens is a coach for the Mets. He joined the team’s staff in 2011. Hudgens serves as the hitting instructor for the Mets.

Hudgens was selected by the Mets with the fifth overall pick in the 1975 Major League Draft. He did not sign with the team, opting for a college career at Arizona State. Dave joined the Cleveland Indians’ organization as a free agent in 1979. He played in 672 games over six minor league seasons. Hudgens also appeared in six games with the Oakland Athletics in 1983.

From 1985 to 1987, Hudgens was a manager in the Athletics’ minor league system. He also served as the hitting instructor in Oakland in the 1990s and 2000s.
