Cory Lidle

Cory Lidle was a pitcher for the Mets in 1997. He appeared in 54 games with the team. Lidle had seven wins and two saves as a Met.
Lidle began his major league career with the Mets in '97. At St. Louis on May 11, he got his first major league win in the Mets' 6-4 triumph over the Cardinals. Cory pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the win in a 4-3 Mets victory over the Rockies on May 19 at Shea Stadium. He pitched the final two innings for a save in an 8-5 Mets win over the Phillies at Shea on June 1. Lidle was the winning pitcher in the Mets' 5-4 victory in 10 innings at St. Louis on August 13. He pitched four innings for a save in a 13-6 Mets triumph at Baltimore on August 30. Cory also had a pair of scoreless innings to get the win in the Mets' 10-5 victory in 10 innings in the first game of a doubleheader at Philadelphia on September 15.
Following the '97 season, Lidle was selected in the expansion draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. He continued to pitch in the major leagues with six other teams. On October 11, 2006, Cory died in a plane crash.
