Cliff Cook

Cliff Cook was an infielder and outfielder for the Mets in 1962 and 1963. He played in 90 games, collecting 41 hits and 17 runs batted in. Cook hit four home runs with the Mets.

Cook joined the Mets with Bob G. Miller in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds for Don Zimmer on May 6, 1962. As a Met, he batted .232 over the remainder of the '62 season. At the Polo Grounds on May 11, Cliff hit his only triple of the season. He homered at Los Angeles on May 25. Cook also hit a home run in the Mets' 11-6 win over the Cubs at Chicago on June 9.

In 1963, Cliff had 15 hits and 9 runs scored with the Mets. He hit a two-run homer in the first inning of a 4-2 Mets win over the Giants in the second game of a doubleheader at the Polo Grounds on May 5. At San Francisco on May 16, he homered in the Mets' 6-5 loss. After entering as a pinch-runner, Cook got an RBI triple and scored twice in the Mets' 8-3 loss to the Reds on June 11.

In July of '63, Cook was sent to the Mets' AAA-level team in Buffalo. He played for the Bisons for the rest of the year and in 1964 to finish his career.
