Chris Woodward was an infielder and outfielder for the Mets in 2005 and 2006. He played in 164 games with the team. Woodward had 97 hits and 43 runs batted in as a Met.
Woodward came to the Mets after six seasons with the Blue Jays. In ’05, he collected 68 total bases for the year. At Shea Stadium on April 23, Chris had two singles and two RBIs in the Mets’ 10-5 win over the Nationals. He hit a two-run homer in a 10-6 Mets victory over the Reds on May 18 at Shea. Woodward singled, doubled and drove in two runs in a 5-3 Mets win over the Phillies at Shea on June 30. He hit a two-run homer in the 11th inning to give the Mets a 3-1 victory over the Padres on July 19 at Shea. Chris drove in the winning run with a 10th inning single for a 9-8 Mets triumph over the Nationals at Shea on August 20. He also singled and scored a run in an 11-0 Mets win over the Rockies on September 29 at Shea.
In 2006, Woodward appeared in 83 games for the Mets. He scored 25 runs during the team’s division-winning season. Chris had two singles and three RBIs in the Mets’ 13-4 victory at Washington on April 13. He doubled and scored twice in a 7-4 Mets win at Florida on May 27. Woodward singled, doubled and drove in two runs in the Mets’ 15-2 triumph at Arizona on June 11. He had a single and a home run in a 13-7 Mets win at Chicago on July 16. Chris singled and hit a three-run double in the Mets’ 10-8 victory over the Cardinals on August 23 at Shea. He also had a two-run double in an 8-0 Mets win over the Braves in the second game of a doubleheader at Shea on September 6.
Woodward played for the Braves, Mariners and Red Sox between 2007 and 2010. He returned to the Blue Jays in 2011.
