Chris Donnels

Chris Donnels was an infielder for the Mets in 1991 and 1992. He played in 82 games with the team. Donnels had 47 total bases and played first, second and third base as a Met.
In ’91, Donnels made his major league debut at Shea Stadium on May 7. In his first time at bat, he drove in a run with a single in the Mets’ 6-5 win over the Dodgers. Chris had two singles and a stolen base in a 6-3 Mets victory at Chicago on September 12. He also singled twice, doubled and scored two runs in the Mets’ 9-6 win in 11 innings at Pittsburgh on October 2.
Donnels had 21 hits in the 1992 season. He had eight runs scored and six RBIs during the year. Chris singled and doubled in a 4-3 Mets loss at Chicago on August 8. He also had two singles, a double and two runs scored in the Mets’ 10-8 win at Chicago on September 14.
After being selected by the Florida Marlins in the expansion draft, Donnels was claimed on waivers by the Astros. He played for the Houston team until joining the Red Sox in 1995. Chris spent four years out of baseball before playing two seasons with the Dodgers and one with the Diamondbacks. He concluded his career with the Rockies’ AAA-level team in Colorado Springs in 2004.
