Carlos Diaz

Carlos Diaz was a lefthanded pitcher for the Mets in 1982 and 1983. He recorded three wins and 64 strikeouts in 58 games pitched with the team. Diaz had an earned run average of 1.97 as a Met.
Diaz was acquired from the Atlanta Braves in a trade for Tom Hausman on September 10, 1982. He pitched three and two-thirds innings over four games for the Mets in '82.
Carlos served as a middle reliever for the Mets in 1983. On April 20, he struck out five batters in four innings and got the win as the Mets defeated the Pirates, 7-5, at Shea Stadium. He was the winning pitcher in the Mets' 7-5 victory over the Cardinals at Shea on June 23. Diaz earned his first save as a Met in a 4-1 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field on August 6. He also got credit for the win in a 5-4 Mets triumph over the Pirates at Shea on September 19.
Following the '83 season, Diaz was traded with Bob Bailor to the Dodgers for Sid Fernandez and Ross Jones. He pitched for the Los Angeles team from 1984 to 1986. Carlos' career ended in spring training with the Oakland Athletics in 1987.
