Carl Willey was a pitcher for the Mets from 1963 to 1965. He had 10 wins and an earned run average of 3.29 in his three seasons in New York. Willey had 128 strikeouts in 57 games with the Mets.

After five seasons with the Milwaukee Braves, Willey was acquired by the Mets on March 22, 1963. Carl was the Mets' leader with a 3.10 earned run average and 4 shutouts in the '63 season. He recorded his first win as a Met with a three-hit shutout at Chicago on April 24. He pitched a five-hit complete game for a 3-2 Mets win over the Reds at the Polo Grounds on May 10. In the first game of a doubleheader at home on June 23, Willey pitched a two-hitter over the Phillies for a 2-0 victory. Carl got credit for the win in the Mets' 14-5 triumph over the Colt .45s in the first game of a twinbill on July 15. In this game, Willey hit a grand slam home run to put the Mets ahead to stay and end the team's 15-game losing streak. He also pitched a complete game for a 4-2 Mets win over the Giants at the Polo Grounds on September 10.

Willey's time on the mound was reduced in 1964 and 1965. He pitched a total of 58 innings in 27 game appearances and had a 1-4 record with the Mets. His only win (and complete game) over the two years was a 4-1 triumph at Philadelphia on September 25, 1965. This game was the last one of Willey's career. Carl was forced to retire after suffering an injury in spring training in 1966.
