Lee William “Buzz” Capra was a pitcher for the Mets from 1971 to 1973. He pitched in 41 games with a record of 5-10 and a 4.49 earned run average. Buzz was with the Mets' National League championship team of 1973.

Capra was drafted by the Mets out of Illinois State University in 1969. He began his major league career with five and one-third innings of relief over three games in September of 1971.

Buzz started six games for the Mets in 1972. He got his first major league win on April 25 at San Diego, allowing five hits to the Padres in six innings pitched. On May 13, Capra pitched eight shutout innings and got his first major league RBI in a 1-0 Mets win over the Giants at Shea Stadium. He was also the winning pitcher on May 19 at Philadelphia.

Capra made 24 relief appearances in 1973. He had 2 wins and 4 saves with 35 strikeouts. Buzz recorded his first major league save on June 27 with four hitless innings in a 7-6 Mets win over the Phillies in the first game of a doubleheader at Shea. In his last game as a Met on September 18, Buzz saved a game in Pittsburgh in the heat of the pennant stretch.

Capra was sold to the Atlanta Braves just prior to the start of the 1974 season. Buzz became a National League All-Star and the league leader in earned run average (2.28) with a record of 16-8 that year. Capra pitched three more years with the Braves, during which he had 10 wins and 19 losses. The 1977 season was his last in the majors before he became a minor league coach.
