Bruce Boisclair

Bruce Boisclair played in 410 games for the Mets in five major league seasons. He began his career by appearing in seven games in 1974 and then spent four full seasons in New York from 1976 to 1979. Bruce had a career batting average of .263 with 10 home runs and 77 runs batted in.

Boisclair (pronounced bo-CLARE) made his major league debut during the Mets' 25-inning game against the Cardinals on September 11, 1974. He entered as a pinch-runner for Duffy Dyer in the bottom of the 23rd. Bruce also got a single and double in his first major league start at Philadelphia on September 25.

In 1976, Boisclair batted .287 and led the Mets with 9 stolen bases. He hit a two-run double with two out in the ninth inning to give the Mets a 6-5 win over the Braves on April 27 at Shea Stadium. Bruce hit his first major league home run in the Mets' 2-1 victory over the Dodgers at Shea on August 28. He also had a pinch-hit homer and a run-scoring single in a 4-1 Mets win over the Cardinals on September 16 at Shea.

Bruce hit a career-best .293 in 1977. His totals of 90 hits, 21 doubles and 44 runs batted in for the season were also career highs. Boisclair had 4-hit games on August 30 at Houston and September 9 at Chicago. He also led the team with 7 sacrifice bunts.

Boisclair's production fell as he batted .224 in 107 games in 1978. He singled home the winning run in the 10th inning to give the Mets a 3-2 victory at Cincinnati on May 8. At Houston on May 27, Bruce tripled and homered in the Mets' 9-7 win over the Astros.

Bruce broke his right wrist in 1979, limiting him to 59 games for the year.

Boisclair was released by the Mets just prior to the start of the 1980 season. He never played in the major leagues again.
