Bruce Bochy

Bruce Bochy was a catcher for the Mets in 1982. He appeared in 17 games with the team. Bochy had a .306 batting average as a Met.
After three seasons with the Houston Astros, Bochy came to the Mets just prior to the start of the 1981 season. He played at at AAA-level Tidewater (Norfolk, Virginia) before joining the parent club in August of '82. At Shea Stadium on September 5, Bruce had two singles, a double and four runs batted in as the Mets defeated the Reds, 10-2. He hit a home run in a 4-1 Mets win at St. Louis on September 12. Bochy homered in a 6-2 Mets loss to the Cardinals in the second game of a doubleheader on September 18 at Shea. He also singled three times in the Mets' 3-1 loss at Chicago on September 30.
In January of 1983, Bochy was released by the Mets. He signed with the San Diego Padres, with whom he played five seasons. Bruce went on to become the Padres' manager for twelve years, leading them to four divisional titles and a National League pennant. He then moved on to skipper the San Francisco Giants to the 2010 World Championship.
