Bruce Berenyi was a pitcher for the Mets from 1984 to 1986. He pitched 168 and one-third innings in 36 games with the team. Berenyi had a 12-8 won-lost record as a Met.

Berenyi came to the Mets in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds on June 15, 1984. He recorded nine wins and 81 strikeouts over the rest of the season. At Shea Stadium on June 23, Bruce got his first win as a Met with seven shutout innings for a 2-0 victory over the Expos. He fanned 10 batters and got the win in a 7-3 Mets triumph over the Reds at Shea on July 8. Berenyi combined with Tom Gorman on a two-hit shutout for a 7-0 Mets win on July 14 at Atlanta. He pitched seven innings of three-hit ball for the win as the Mets defeated the Dodgers, 4-0, at Los Angeles on August 14. Bruce also pitched seven shutout innings and got the win in the Mets' 4-0 victory over the Padres in the second game of a doubleheader on August 31 at Shea.

In 1985, Berenyi spent most of the season on the disabled list. A torn rotator cuff kept him sidelined from April 24 to September 1. Bruce made only three appearances for the Mets during the year. His only decision of '85 was a win in a 1-0 Mets triumph over the Reds at Shea on April 12. In this game, Berenyi held his former Cincinnati team to one hit in seven innings pitched.

Bruce recorded two wins for the Mets in the 1986 World Championship season. He was the winning pitcher with one and one-third innings of scorless relief in a 10-5 Mets victory at Atlanta on April 29. Berenyi got a win in the Mets' 5-4 triumph on May 24 at San Diego. He appeared in his final major league game in the Mets' 11-1 loss to the Reds at Shea on July 9.
