In '73, Brian made his major league debut on August 5. He entered the Mets' game against the Cardinals in the sixth inning and struck out in his two plate appearances. This was Ostrosser's only game at Shea Stadium.

On August 12, Brian made his first and only start in a major league game. He went 0-for-2 in the Mets' 4-1 loss to the Giants at San Francisco. He also appeared at shortstop in the other two games of the weekend series.

Ostrosser spent the 1974 season back in the minor leagues. He was traded to the Indians on June 21 that year. With the Cleveland organization, Brian never played for the parent club and did not appear in another major league game.
