The Mets and Mariners made a trade during the 1990 season. Minor league pitcher Brian Givens was sent to the Seattle team in exchange for infielder Mario Diaz. Givens was in the Mets' system for seven years and was at the Triple-A level in '90. Diaz had played in 91 games for the Mariners over the previous three seasons.
Diaz batted .136 in 16 games with the Mets in '90. He joined the Texas Rangers as a free agent after the season. Givens spent two years in the Mariners' minor league system and never pitched for the Seattle club.
